Repainting and renovation painting Canberra

Tired paintwork brought back, and new work tied into existing finishes so the join does not show.

Repainted Canberra home entry and renovated facade

The hardest part of a repaint is what you cannot see afterwards

Repainting an established home is rarely just about colour. Thirty or forty years of previous coats, patched cracks, replaced sections of plaster and past repairs all sit under the surface, and they all affect how the new finish looks. Assessing that properly is what separates a repaint that holds up from one that looks patchy within a year.

Renovation painting adds another problem: making new work disappear into old. A new wall, an extension, a replaced door or a rebuilt cornice has to match the surrounding surfaces in texture and sheen as well as colour, or the eye finds the join immediately.

For whole property projects see house painting. For textured surfaces that need matching, see texture painting.

What repainting and renovation work includes

From a single tired room to a whole home coming out of a renovation.

Full and partial repaints

One room, one elevation or the entire property, with the same preparation standard applied either way.

Extensions and new walls

New surfaces sealed, finished and blended so the transition into the existing home is invisible.

Crack and damage repair

Settlement cracks raked and filled, water damaged plaster cut out and repaired, nail pops and dents made good.

Texture and finish matching

Existing wall texture, cornice profiles and sheen levels matched so new work does not stand out under raking light.

Pre sale repaints

Neutral, clean and quick, targeted at the surfaces that actually affect how a property presents to buyers.

Post renovation touch ups

The marks, scuffs and knocks that other trades leave behind, dealt with in one coordinated visit.

How we assess an older property

Before quoting a repaint we work out what is actually going on under the existing paint.

What is already on the wall

Oil based, water based, or something older. This determines whether the new system will bond or peel.

Whether the surface is sound

Chalky, powdery or lifting paint has to be stabilised or removed. Coating over it just buys a year.

Where movement is happening

Some cracks are cosmetic and some will reopen. We tell you which is which rather than filling everything and hoping.

Whether moisture is involved

Staining and bubbling usually mean water. Painting over it hides the symptom and guarantees a callback.
