A roof coating only works if what is under it is sound
Roof painting is the most weather exposed coating on any building, and in Canberra it takes the worst of both extremes: heavy frost through winter and intense UV through summer. That combination finds every shortcut, which is why we spend most of the job on cleaning, repair and priming rather than on the colour coats.
We work on both tile and metal roofs, residential and commercial. Every job starts with an inspection: broken or slipped tiles, failed pointing, rusted sheets, loose fixings, blocked valleys and problem flashings all get identified and priced before any coating is quoted.
Roof work is often combined with exterior painting while access equipment is already on site.

Inspection and report
A proper look at tiles, sheets, fixings, valleys and flashings, with anything needing repair identified up front.
High pressure cleaning
Moss, lichen, dirt and chalking removed so the primer bonds to the roof rather than to the grime on it.
Repairs and repointing
Broken and slipped tiles replaced, ridge capping repointed with flexible pointing, rusted sheets and fixings addressed.
Sealing and priming
A roof specific primer suited to the substrate, which is what stops the finish coats lifting in the first season.
Membrane or metal coating
Two coats of the appropriate roof system, applied at the specified film build rather than thinned to cover faster.
Gutters and downpipes
Cleared and coated where required, so water leaves the roof properly once the job is finished.
Tile roofs and metal roofs are different jobs
They fail differently, so they are prepared and coated differently.
Concrete and terracotta tiles
Porous and prone to moss. They need cleaning, repointing and a sealer before a membrane system goes on.
Colorbond and metal sheeting
Failure here is usually rust and chalking. Rust is treated back to sound metal and primed with a metal specific system.
Access and safety
Roof work is work at height. Harnesses, anchor points and edge protection are set up before anyone goes up.
